New York, New York
New York Mets -119 / Arizona Diamondbacks -101 O/U: 8
The Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Mets will meet up to continue their series on Wednesday.
In the Monday opener, the Mets banged out a 3-1 victory. On Tuesday, New York took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning and were able to hold on for a 3-2 win despite getting out-hit 10-5.
For the Wednesday game, the Diamondbacks will send out Robbie Ray for the start. Across his 156.1 innings and 12-7 record Ray has a 4.03 ERA with 207 Ks and 73 BBs.
Over on the Mets’ side, they’ll go with Steven Matz on Wednesday. This year in 139.1 innings and a 9-8 record Matz has a 4.00 ERA with 132 Ks and 42 BBs.
The Diamondbacks are 5-1 in Ray’s last six starts and 5-2 in his last seven road starts. Arizona is 2-6 in Ray’s last eight starts with four days’ rest and 5-1 in his last six on grass.
Meanwhile, the Mets are 1-4 in their last five in game three of a series and 4-1 in Matz’s last five home starts. New York is 5-11 in Matz’s last 16 starts in game three of a series and 1-6 in his last seven with four days’ rest.
Ray has been okay over his last two starts but not stellar, logging seven earned on 11 hits in 9.1 innings for a 1-0 record in that time. He hasn’t recorded a loss since July 28.
As for Matz, he hasn’t given up more than two earned in any of his last six starts and is 3-1 during that stretch. This should be a fun pitching matchup but I’m leaning toward the Mets.
