The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers meet in game one of a mini two game NL West set in MLB action from Dodger Stadium on Tuesday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will look to rebound after settling for a series split in their set with the Giants, dropping the series finale on Sunday by a final score of 10-4. Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Ildemaro Vargas and Adam Jones each had an RBI to make up Arizona’s scoring as a team in the loss, while Nick Ahmed added a triple. Tim Locastro, Eduardo Escobar and Jake Lamb each chipped in base hits as well in the losing effort for the D-Backs. Robbie Ray took the loss, falling to 5-6 on the year after allowing four runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five over four innings of work. Taylor Clarke will start game one and is 2-3 with a 6.10 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his career, Clarke is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA and 7 strikeouts against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to build some steam after salvaging a series split of their own with the Colorado Rockies over the weekend, winning the series finale on Sunday by a final score of 10-5. Joc Pederson went 3 for 5 with three RBIs while Matt Beaty and Cody Bellinger each had two RBIs with Beaty adding a pair of doubles. Max Muncy, Kenta Maeda and Justin Turner each had an RBI to finish off the Dodgers’ scoring as a team in the win while Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernanez each had a double with Hernandez going 2 for 4 at the dish. Russell Martin went 2 for 5 at the plate while Edwin Rios added a base knock of his own in the winning effort. Maeda allowed two runs on three hits while striking out five over 4.1 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Dylan Floro got the win to improve to 3-2 on the year in relief. Ross Stripling will start game one and is 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA and 52 strikeouts this season. In his career, Stripling is 1-4 with a 3.73 ERA and 45 strikeouts against Arizona.

Arizona is 6-14 in their last 20 division games and 3-8 in their last 11 games against a right-handed starter while the over is 4-0 in Clarke’s last 4 starts overall. Los Angeles is 49-21 in their last 70 games overall and 42-12 in their last 54 home games while the over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Arizona is 15-37 in the last 52 meetings between these two teams in Los Angeles.

It’s hard to pick a side here because Stripling may be on another pitch count and Clarke has held the Dodgers to two runs in each of his first two starts against them this season. That’s why I’m going to take a shot with Arizona on the plus run line. Each of the last four meetings have either seen Arizona win or the Dodgers win by one. I think that these two could be in for another tightly contested series, so I’ll take the free run with Arizona here.

Pick:
Arizona Diamondbacks: 1.5 (-101)
